Short Horror Story Compilation Book

I just finished writing a three page outline for a short horror story. It works as both a stand alone story and also as a prelude/side-story/prequel to the full length novel I'm working on. I really like it. Once I finished the outline I picked up the phone and called my best bud James to tell him about it. This is strange because I almost never initiate phone calls. Just proves how excited I am about my story. It's not untitled but I don't want to post the title on my blog, even if no one reads it. Plagiarism sucks and if someone did that to me I'd be beyond pissed.

The finished short story or novella will probably be between 30-80 pages. I'm almost positive I will use it for my entry in the short horror story compilation book my friends and I plan to put together. It depends on a few factors. One of which is time. Mine and theirs. They just had a kid and I'm a serial procrastinator.

Reading & Writing

So I’m writing a novel. I’ve tried my hand at writing more than a few times in my life, but I’ve never managed to finish anything. I’m a slow writer, not to mention a procrastinator. I always inevitably find something else I’ve been meaning to do right when I’m about to get serious about a project.

This time is a little different. I don’t have any expectations for one. Well, unless you count actually planning to finish this novel. I haven’t put a time limit on myself though, which could be either a very good idea, or a very bad one. Only time will tell I suppose. I think I have an interesting story with some very intriguing characters who are well fleshed out and whom you can care for. We’ll see.

I recently – in the last 2-4 months – read The Millennium Saga for the first time. It’s a trilogy of books: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest. Great books. The movies based off the books however, kind of suck. Don’t judge the books on the movies.
